Through the generous donation of land by Joe Persiconi and plants by the Wayne Metropolitan Community Action Agency, F&L will be creating a community garden for the second year in a row. Last year, the garden yielded over 1,009 lbs of fresh produce for the pantry through the dedication of volunteers and great “growing” weather.
To learn more about the supporting the Community Garden, there will be a “Garden Volunteer Information” night on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at 7:00PM. General information regarding preparing the ground; planting; watering; weeding; and harvesting will be covered. Individuals and groups are encouraged to participate as well as inexperienced green thumbs and Master Gardeners.
